Welcome to your student’s business class. My name is Mrs. Mette; I have been a teacher for 27 years, seventeen years at EMS. I am looking forward to working with your son/daughter this semester in developing their business skills.
The business curriculum is a one-semester introductory course. It is offered to master touch stroke keying (typing), while developing the proper technique, speed and accuracy when keying text. Students will learn basic computer knowledge and terminology. Students will be introduced to Microsoft Office including word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, and presentations applications, along with Internet research. This is a one semester intermediate class.
Classroom procedures start with daily participation consisting of keeping an updated organizer (planner) and bell work focusing on keyboarding skills. The major portion of class time consists of working on computer skills. There will be some homework but most of the work should be completed during class time. It is vital that students complete their assignments in class and on time. Assignments through Google Classroom are required to be turned in on the due date and time, with severe penalties for late work. The computer lab is available before and after school on most days. If your student decides to stay, please notify me to avoid conflict with regularly scheduled teacher meetings.
The easiest way to contact me is via email at email@example.com. Student assignments, including readings from the classroom, will be posted on Google Classroom. Please keep up with student’s grades by logging on to PowerSchool, so there won’t be any surprises at the end of the grading period.
Again, I am looking forward to working with your child to successfully achieve a technology proficient student.
